it is mostly us news and lots of pharmaceutical commercials

Absolutely right on the mark. Thats why I dont watch any American channels that purport to offer "news". The local stations do have local news but not well reported either. They pander to other desires of TV watchers, other than to be informative. If these programs were not entertaining, they would not exist. Most cable channels "news" is opinion, chat and gossip with mediocre experts.

I watch some of Al Jazeera from a Link TV feed since I dont have satellite, and a public access channel offers Russia Today – RT – which is the best news program, no holds barred. They are not afraid of the corporations or the Pentagon, so you get truth and facts. BBC Newsnight is good and DW-TV European Journal is good.

International news orgnaizations based in Washington must not offend Americans so they have to watch their content when reported from Washington. There were some good programs about foreign affairs but they have no audience so they get terminated. The American government wants to keep Americans in the dark about foreign matters and ignorant about America.
